A great hotel in the heart of one of France’s top ski resorts
What a ski area! One of the top 5 resorts in France, this high level resort catches both sun and snow in copious quantities. Famous for being the ultimate mountain climb for cyclists on the Tour de France, this high level ski resort is one of the great ski destinations in Europe.
We are delighted to be able to introduce the excellent Hotel Bel Alpe, now under our management, and brilliantly located right in the heart of the resort.

On the slopes
This is a resort that truly offers almost perfect conditions and challenges for all levels of skier or boarder. It’s really well organised too – the easy slopes are near to the resort and the scary stuff is higher up so you don’t drift onto it by mistake! At the
end of the day, ski right back to the hotel door. How convenient is that?
Your ski pass also covers you for skiing in Les 2 Alpes – with another 60lifts and 220km of pistes! You just pay 8,50€ for the bus fare, or take the helicopter if you want to arrive in real style!
Beginners* * * * *
Catch the lobster-pot lift to the top of the resort and you have all the main lifts, pistes and the ski school meeting place all immediately available. This resort is brilliant for beginners; the lowest runs are all wide open spaces with plenty of space for experimenting on snow.
For great ski lessons, we hope to renew our association with Stuart Adamson of Ski Masterclass – one of the very best British ski instructors in the Alps! We’ll set up an advance booking system for this.

From the centre of the resort (where we are) the lifts fan out in several directions. From Alpe d’Huez you can climb up and ski the long runs back into the village, or alternatively go visiting the several satellite villages around the side of the mountain. With nearly 2000m vertical drop from top to bottom the runs and long and interesting, tree lined on lower slopes.
Experts* * * * *
Alpe d’Huez has its share of fearsome pistes too. Most notorious is the infamous tunnel run. Approached via a tunnel from the side of the glacier this opens out onto the mother of all mogul fields! You can also ski the world’s longest black run – all 16km of la Sarenne, starting from the glacier at the very top of Pic Blanc at 3330m dropping to around 1600m. There are more than 20 high altitude off piste trails too for you to try out.
Off the slopes
This is a resort where the action continues off the slopes too. You’ll find an unbelievable array of winter activities in the resort including ice skating, curling, ice grotto, ice driving, open air heated swimming pool, quad biking, snow shoes, skidoos, bungee trampolining, paragliding and an indoor sports centre. If you’ve got the energy, they have the sport.
But it’s not all high octane entertainment. There is also a theatre, a very impressive Church, plus concerts, cinema, museums, saunas and so on. And in the valley, the town of Bourg d’Oisans would make a pleasant day out by bus too.
Hotel Les Cimes
The Hotel Les Cimes is a three star hotel situated in a quiet part of the resort just 80 metres from a chair lift or a ten minute walk to the main lift in the centre of town. The hotel has been redecorated for this season and we think it is a really good value hotel, with comfortable rooms and a freindly atmosphere now the hotel is managed by it's french owner (the hotel was formerley a club hotel for a large British ski tour operator).
Breakfast is taken in the hotel, your evening meal will be in local restuarants - As we sell this hotel on a half board basis (breakfast and evening meal) we have arranged this with the restaurants so you wont pay anymore apart from drinks, which you would have to pay for in the hotel. For weeks where there are a high number of guests we plan to employ a chef in the hotel, so both meals will be eaten in the hotel.
