Come in April to catch Corfu at what many consider to be its best time of year. The days are warm, the air is fresh, flowers are blooming and shopkeepers open up to welcome us, the first tourists of the new season!
It’s also the season of Greek Easter. Corfu celebrates Easter like nowhere else and our programme of events and excursions makes the most of this superb festival. You really have to be there to understand it!
Stay a second week and enjoy the island in early summer. Whether you are relaxing, walking or sightseeing, we have a superb choice of things to do. Walk parts of the stunning Corfu Trail or take a coach excursion to explore the island before the main tourist season begins.
Join an island tour with a visit to the Achilleon, the old Palace of Corfu and the beautiful mountainous northern half of the island.
Albania Excursion
Overthe years and via our charity MasterServe, we have had a long connection with the Church in Sarande in Albania, planted by the Greek Evangelical Church in Corfu. During the second week you can take a one day visit to Albania to see some of the sights of this most hidden of all European countries.
Our excursion will include a visit to the beautiful archaeological site of Butrint – occupied since Roman times, but with Venetian ruins superimposed on the ancient site.
Excursions and sightseeing
We will have a selection of coach excursions during this holiday including an island tour with a visit to the Achilleon, the old Palace of Corfu and the beautiful mountainous northern half of the island. We can also arrange a visit to a beautiful private garden. It is the kind of thing you can only do out of season!
Buses to Corfu Town pass the end of the drive and the resort of Gouvia is within easy walking reach for shops and tavernas.
Car hire is possible as well and can be organised in resort with your car being delivered to the hotel on the required day.
Walking the Corfu Trail
Corfu now has a waymarked path running the full length of the island - the Corfu Trail. You can walk this in sections and we'll arrange a couple of walks during the second week. In total it is about 250 kms long and varies in height from sea level to 915 metres, covering dirt tracks, old mule paths, minor roads, beaches and footpaths.
There will be a small charge of about £25 - £30 for each day’s walking to cover transport and leadership. Lunches will be taken en-route in suitable tavernas or using packed lunches at extra cost. You will need good walking boots and although the weather is likely to be pretty good you should be prepared for the possibility of rain.
The Park Hotel, Gouvia
Just 10 minutes from Corfu Town, the Park Hotel in Gouvia is very conveniently located for all the events in Corfu Town. The Park Hotel is an A category hotel, equivalent to four stars and looks out towards Gouvia Marina.
The hotel has around 190 rooms, with a bar, restaurant and a conference room. The rooms are spacious and all have airconditioning, telephone, radio, minibars, hair dryers, satellite TV, private bathrooms with baths and a balcony mostly with sea views.
